RAID Open Water 20 Course

RAID Learning Horz BThe RAID Open Water 20 course, is the introductory course to being an independent scuba diver.  The course is made up of three parts:

  1. Academics - this is to learn the background knowledge of physics, physiology, environment, equipment, etc to make sure you become a safe diver.  All academics are completed by the student via the website or the diveRAID App
  2. Confined Water - here is where our RAID instructors will teach you the skills of buoyancy/trim, finning, equipment configuration, etc
  3. Open Water - now it's your turn to demonstrate your mastery of the skills learned in confined water, to your instructor.  They will help guide you through your first experiences of diving in the open sea, in a safe, methodical manner.  This is to ensure you get the most enjoyment from your diving experience 

Course Summary

  • 1x Academic study/exam (self-study)
  • 2 x theory classes (2~3hrs each)
  • 2 x confined water classes (3~4hrs each) 
  • 4 x open sea dives (minimum 2hrs underwater)


  • Minimum age                10*
  • Medical Form              
    (if you have any of the mentioned ailments you are required to get doctors certification for diving)
  • Liability Form              
* Students between the ages of 10 through 14 may obtain a RAID Junior Open Water 20 Diver Certification if the following conditions are met: junior students are to train and dive under the direct supervision of a parent, guardian, or active dive professional. When an RAID Junior Open Water 15 Diver reaches the age of 15, they may upgrade to a RAID Open Water Scuba Diver certification
